  COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY

Lin Broadcast Tower Hamden, Connecticut

Built in anticipation of the proliferation of digital television, expanded cell phone usage, and advancements in emergency broadcast systems, The Clear Channel Broadcast Tower plays a vital role in our regional communications capability.
An undeveloped mountainside was primed to support these facilities with careful preparation by a determined work force.  The signal tower, which rises 1200 feet above ground, is anchored by massive concrete foundations that radiate out more than a thousand feet in diameter and span an elevation range of over seventy-five feet.
To ensure the safety and long-term, uninterrupted, service of these facilities a protective steel ice catching structure shrouds the facilities.  This prevents the otherwise likely catastrophic collision of cascading sheets of ice falling onto the buildings from guy wires from as much as 1,000 feet above ground.
