| The restoration and expansion of New Haven's City Hall had long been an elusive objective of the city's political administrations. During his tenure as Mayor, John Daniels was determined to bring the restoration and renovation of this 140-year old Henry Austin Gothic Revival masterpiece to a successful closure. He turned to the Giordano team to provide the intellectual and logistical talent needed to organize and execute the completion of what had already become a decade-long effort. | ||
| This exceptional Austin design was privileged to possess both an ornate face and some highly detailed interior features. Members of the New Haven community concluded that this building was truly representative of the city's history and must be preserved. Along with extensive masonry and millwork restoration, the clock tower and cast iron staircase were fully refurbished. To accommodate the space requirements of New Haven's growing administrative functions, an addition to the footprint was integrated into the plan. The addition's architectural features fully complement the aesthetic nature of the building's original façade. | ||
| Perfecting the exterior and bringing the interiors of both spaces to a high level of finish was a significant challenge. Giordano's team walked into a building shell in disrepair with its structural features out of plumb, square on level, and transformed it into the impressive landmark that it is today. | ||
