Price Club Plaza • North Haven, Connecticut |

![]() |
||
| Prior to the spirited venture of real estate developer Herb Pearce and his partners, access to this now excellent retail site was a practical impossibility. Formerly, the location of the famous Cedar Hill rail yard of the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad, this was a location that could only be accessed by rail. Pearce's construction of a bridge and access road into the property stand as one of the true hallmarks of the entrepreneurial spirit of this region. | ||

Soon thereafter, a joint venture by the founders of the “Big Box” shopping phenomena, Sol and Robert Price, along with Kornwasser and Friedman (a prominent shopping center developer from California) became further testimony to the potential of this newly opened landscape. Met with enthusiasm by the Town of North Haven, it would not be long before The Price Club Plaza became the first initiative of this type for Connecticut. |
||
| With Price Club and Home Depot anchoring either end of this strip mall, the smaller spaces spanning the middle of the shopping center rented quickly and favorably for the developers. This project would be the forerunner of what would become a standard in New England. | ||
