Coming off an exceptional success at the Rehabilitation Center in New Haven, Giordano and the architectural firm of Matthews, Thompson, and Connell were recognized as a team capable of bringing new life and purpose to tired buildings that have otherwise seemed to run the full course of their useful life. |

|
The owners of Security Link, the region’s pre-imminent provider of electronic building security services, asked Giordano to integrate the program needs of their expanding business into the constraints imposed by their newly acquired but severely deficient facility. The desirability of the site’s location and high visibility were strategic factors in the decision to acquire this facility, but the building was simply woeful. |

There are times, however, when an older building’s footprint cannot be replicated under currant zoning regulations and hence a yet another purpose is given to the idea of preservation. Once again, the solution presented itself through the addition of a second floor and the supplementation of the support structure to accommodate the additional loads. Finished in traditional stucco and enhanced with large skylights and expansive windows, a building that was destined for demolition has lived to serve yet another generation. |
