Brought into being through the energies and far reaching perspective of a group of educators, both academic and altruistic, this school exists today because of the true understanding of what it takes to make a "deal". Civic leaders and the extended commitment of a developer brought about a special opportunity for the youth of greater New Haven. Absent that commitment, this now highly admired institution would likely not have been realized. |

Giordano, as it turned out, was to be the interlocutor between the failures and successes of the developer and the greater purposes of the originators. The developer, facing an unfortunate but likely economic calamity, asked Giordano to step in and finance the construction to its completion. |

|
Fully at risk, but believing in the premise, Giordano met the challenge and delivered what is recognized today as one of the truly outstanding magnet schools in Connecticut. |
